TORONTO, ONT. (Feb. 11, 2016) — The Canadian International AutoShow kicked off its 43rd annual event Thursday with more than 40 vehicle launches during Media Preview Day.

The world’s leading automotive manufacturers pulled the covers off 33 production vehicles and 11 concepts over the course of the media tour that took a record number of digital, broadcast and print journalists through the 1,000 cars and 650,000 square feet of show space at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The AutoShow opens to the public Friday, February 12 at noon.

“With such a strong roster, it cements the Canadian International AutoShow’s place as the biggest and best consumer show in the country,” says Jason Campbell, General Manager of the AutoShow. “This year’s lineup is an incredible opportunity to see cars that haven’t been seen before in Canada.”

The day began with the announcement of the Honda Civic as the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada Canadian Car of the Year and the Mazda CX-3 as the 2016 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year. Ray Tanguay, a special consultant to the Canadian and Ontario governments on the automotive industry, discussed the future direction of the domestic auto sector while media also heard from Martin Sander, Head of Audi’s operations in the Americas, after breakfast and Ian Callum, Global Director of Design for Jaguar Land Rover, during lunch.
