The more things change, the more they stay the same. Take our morning routines for example – we read our morning news on tablets and not just papers these days, and we also know how to do breakfast on the go. Yet, one thing hasn't changed – Canadians love for their morning coffee. That's why Folgers, in celebration of 165 years of helping to wake up coffee lovers, examined how Canadians continue to embrace our love for the fresh home brew:

1. Eyes open, cup poured: For nearly four in ten Canadian coffee drinkers, drinking a cup of coffee is the first thing they do when they wake up. The morning shower, getting dressed and looking at the phone can wait until after the coffee's been enjoyed.

2. Meal couplers: Nearly a quarter of Canadians consider their morning coffee an essential component of their breakfast, and they enjoy them together.

3. Multitasking masters and mavens: Catching up on the day's news – whether on an electronic device, a television or in our favourite newspaper – goes well with coffee for 17 per cent of Canadians.

4. Sip and work: Seventeen per cent of Canadians wait until they get to work before indulging in their daily roast.

5. Silence, please: The early-morning parents who value the opportunity that coffee provides for quiet contemplation make sure they get a cup before the kids get up. They may only be 2 per cent of the Canadian population, but the effort they make speaks volumes about how important their morning brew is to them.
